Are you ready for an upturn?
The signs from the UK economy have been mixed over the last few weeks - some indicators are positive, others less so. One very encouraging sign though is I'm hearing from contacts in the recruitment business that companies in the marketing sector are hiring, which suggests that they're gearing up to take advantage of improving conditions. The question is, what can we do as consultants to make sure we're ready for an increase in business when it comes. If you've been going through a slack period then now is good time to focus on how you present your services and getting out and about, whereas those who are fortunate enough to be snowed under should maybe look at seeking out associates to help with delivery instead.
Intelligent On-line Marketing Workshop
You may remember that we asked early in January if you'd be interested in attending a 'How to use Skillfair' event. The feedback was pretty positive and we've decided that combining this with a review of how best to market your services on-line would be a good way to help you focus on marketing ready for 2010. There were a huge variety of suggestions as to location but perhaps predictably London came out on top as the location most acceptable to most people. The workshop will be on 17th March at Malmaison in London and some keen negotiating from Jo has kept the price down to £30 (£25 for members). For more details and to book just click here - if the event works well we plan to hold another one outside London in early Summer.

The idea of an upturn is supported by the number and variety of projects we've seen come through Skillfair in the last week or two. They range from the highly specialised and technical through to calls for associates in more general business skills - these are just sample of the direct client projects that have come through - I haven't included any tenders, no room!
