| Clear vision in a cloudy climate - London conference will examine opportunities for consultants to weather the storm
19th August, 2008 – Skillfair, the online consultant’s network, is to host its fourth annual consultants’ conference in London on Thursday 13th November 2008.
The theme of the conference is ‘The Intelligent Consulting Business’ and the sessions will examine how consultants can adapt and improve their businesses to make the most of challenging market conditions.

| The online consultant’s network, Skillfair, (www.skillfair.co.uk) has today announced that it has entered into an agreement with the professional body for consultants and business advisors, the Institute of Business Consulting (IBC).
A part of Skillfair’s strategic growth plans, the agreement will extend Skillfair’s services to Institute of Business Consulting members, who will have access to Skillfair’s subscription-based online marketplace of consultancy information and opportunities. |

Fee Rate Survey Shows Pressure in 3rd Sector

| Skillfair's annual fee rate survey for consultants shows daily rates dropping across the board, with particular pressure in the voluntary or 3rd sector. The average fee rate in the private sector is £656 with the top earners being Coaches and Management Consultants - but rates drop to an average of £574 in the Public Sector and £450 in the 3rd Sector.

Rise in self-employment challenges the professiona

| Recent research published by Vodafone * suggests that almost half the UK’s workforce could be self-employed by 2011. Many of the new businesses created over the next few years are likely to be knowledge-based, with many people setting up as self-employed freelancers or consultants.
Skillfair’s own research into the support that consultants and freelancers need suggests that many turn to existing professional organisations but don't always get the support they need.

| Research commissioned by mobile telephone provider Vodafone UK found that 33 per cent of British workers are giving serious consideration to the idea of starting up their own business, the Press Association reports. It is claimed that there could be an additional ten million people in the UK running their own businesses by 2011 as a result. |
