| Summary |
This project will look at exemplar case studies of coastal projects and schemes in three categories; schemes with multiple objectives, schemes with multiple organisations and funding streams, and comprehensive schemes (i.e. schemes with multiple objectives and multiple organisations/funding streams), quantifying the benefits realised and demonstrating cost efficiency. The case studies will include the whole portfolio of Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management measures; from the building of new assets, the continued maintenance, monitoring and data collection of existing defences, to the transfer of asset ownership to landowners where a Shoreline Management Plan (SMP) has identified a policy of ‘no active intervention’. The outputs of this project will include a structured database of coastal projects and schemes with multiple objectives and/or funders, and a detailed technical report. These will include commentary on lessons learnt and guidance on handling such schemes.
